With this issue, we want to honor our daughter Kristi who died ten years ago in an auto accident.  She was the catalyst that started us on this soul journey and brought so much light into our lives. As we look back on the past nine years, we marvel at where we were and at where we have come to be. The journey is not yet finished, but there is more light on our faces and in our hearts and we are confidently moving forward, knowing that Kristi is guiding us and smiling down on us always.

The tide recedes, but leaves behind, bright seashells on the sand.

The sun goes down, but gentle warmth, still lingers on the land.

The music stops, and yet it echoes on in sweet refrain . . .

For every joy that passes, something beautiful remains.

From the very beginning we have honored Kristi’s passing by hosting The Kristi Visocky Memorial Golf Tournament and Kristi’s Big Night Out event. It’s not about the golf, though it’s fun bringing everyone together for the region’s largest golf tournament. It’s not about Kristi’s Big Night Out party, which is always a great time.

It’s about the community who has come together around us to help create amazing beginnings from the ashes of grief. Through the efforts of that community the Kristi’s Fund has awarded $200,000 in scholarships to area young women, many of them single moms. Together we helped provide Thanksgiving dinner for those less fortunate, and brightened the holidays for many through Kristi’s Wish.

We are excited to announce that proceeds from this year’s event will be used to kick start the campaign to break ground on the foundation’s newest project, Raise the Roof, building a Habitat for Humanity House. Officially called The House that Kristi Built: Celebrating Community, this home will be a testament to the generous assistance and collaboration of hundreds of friends, family, co-workers and businesses who have supported the Kristi Visocky Foundation over the years.

Both events are coming up the weekend of July 26 – 28. We are Rockin’ the House, literally! at Kristi’s Big Night Out party with 80’s rock band RETRO! And if you’re a golfer, the Sunday tournament is definitely a great time, and you don’t have to be good to participate, so no excuses. Go to www.KristisFund.com for more info.

Together we can Raise the Roof and support Habitat’s vision: a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

We hope you can join us,

Donna & Bob
